Maugersbury is a rural yet breathtakingly beautiful hamlet situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, just 1 mile outside of the historic market town of Stow on the Wold. Thanks to its position, many of the quintessential cottages situated within the hamlet enjoy glorious views across the surrounding countryside, making Maugersbury a desirable destination for those re-locating to the area.

As well as being within close proximity of Stow on the Wold, Maugersbury is only 5 miles from Moreton in Marsh and 5 miles from Bourton on the Water. The nearest train station is at either at Moreton or Kingham (5 miles), both which offer a mainline direct service between Worcester and London Paddington, via Oxford.

Things to Do and Amenities

Although the hamlet itself does not have any amenities, Stow on the Wold is within walking distance and offers a wide array of handy conveniences. At the centre of the town is the large market square, which consists of a mixture of shops and tea rooms and there is a multitude of popular pubs and restaurants, including the newly refurbished Sheep on Sheep Street and the well regarded Old Stocks Inn. There is also a doctors surgery, dentist and opticians within the town as well as a Tesco’s, which is used by the residents of many of the neighbouring towns and villages for their everyday essentials.


The nearest primary school is Stow on the Wold Primary School and for secondary education Maugersbury falls within the catchment area for The Cotswold School – a language and science academy – which is located in Bourton on the Water, and was named as The Sunday Times Comprehensive School of the Year 2015-16.
